Know the Questions Before They Ask.
Practise Until You're Ready.
European employers ask different questions. They expect different answers. Our mentors conduct mock interviews, teach you the STAR method, and give you honest feedback so you walk in confident.
Free for Ukrainians through the Mentors for Ukraine programme. No cost. No obligation.
Why Interviews in Europe Feel Different
You know your skills. You've done the work. But European interviews have unwritten rules that nobody explains. Here's what trips people up.
Questions You've Never Heard
"Tell me about a time you failed." "Where do you see yourself in five years?" "Why should we hire you?" These questions feel strange if you've never prepared for them.
The STAR Method Gap
European recruiters expect structured answers: Situation, Task, Action, Result. If you answer with general statements instead of specific examples, you lose points.
Confidence Under Pressure
Even if you know the answers, nerves can derail you. Without practice, the real interview becomes your first attempt. That's a risk you don't need to take.
Questions European Employers Actually Ask
These are the questions our mentors hear most often from Ukrainians preparing for EU jobs. Knowing them is step one. Practising your answers is step two.
Behavioural Questions
- Tell me about a time you faced a difficult challenge at work.
- Describe a situation where you had to work with a difficult colleague.
- Give an example of when you showed leadership.
- Tell me about a time you failed and what you learned.
- Describe a situation where you had to meet a tight deadline.
Motivation Questions
- Why do you want to work for this company?
- Why are you leaving your current role?
- Where do you see yourself in five years?
- What motivates you in your work?
- Why should we hire you?
Technical/Role-Specific Questions
- Walk me through your experience with [skill/tool].
- How would you approach [specific problem]?
- What's your process for [relevant task]?
- Tell me about a project you're proud of.
Questions About Your Situation
- How has your experience in Ukraine prepared you for this role?
- How do you handle working in a new country/culture?
- What are your salary expectations?
- When can you start?
Knowing the questions isn't enough. You need to practise answering them out loud with feedback.
Book a Mock InterviewHow to Answer Behavioural Questions: The STAR Method
European recruiters don't want vague answers. They want specific examples. The STAR method gives you a structure that makes your answers clear and memorable.
Situation
Set the scene. Where were you? What was the context? Keep it brief.
Example: "In my previous role as a project manager, we had a client who changed requirements mid-project."
Task
What was your responsibility? What needed to happen?
Example: "I needed to re-scope the project without losing the client or missing the deadline."
Action
What did YOU do? Be specific about your actions, not the team's.
Example: "I scheduled a call with the client to understand priorities, then restructured the timeline and reassigned tasks to focus on must-haves first."
Result
What happened? Use numbers if possible.
Example: "We delivered the core features on time, the client renewed their contract, and I was asked to lead two more projects."
Pro tip: Most people fail on Action and Result. They describe what the team did, not what they did. They forget to mention the outcome. A mentor can catch these gaps before an employer does.
What Happens in a Mock Interview Session
Our mentors simulate real interview conditions so you can practise under pressure. Here's what to expect.
Realistic Interview Simulation
Your mentor plays the role of interviewer. They ask real questions from your target industry. You answer as if it's the real thing.
Live Feedback on Your Answers
After each answer, your mentor tells you what worked and what didn't. They help you restructure weak answers on the spot.
STAR Method Coaching
If your answers lack structure, your mentor teaches you to reframe them using STAR. You'll practise until it feels natural.
Body Language and Presentation Tips
How you say it matters as much as what you say. Mentors notice nervous habits, eye contact, and pacing.
Industry-Specific Questions
Mentors in tech, finance, marketing, and other fields know what employers in their sector ask. They tailor questions to your target role.
Confidence Building
The more you practise, the less nervous you'll be. By your third session, the real interview feels familiar.

Preparation for Every Interview Stage
Different interview rounds require different preparation. Mentors can help with all of them.
HR Screening Calls
The first call with a recruiter. They're checking motivation, communication, and basic fit. Mentors help you make a strong first impression.
Behavioural Interviews
The "tell me about a time" questions. STAR method is essential. Mentors help you prepare 5 to 10 stories that cover most questions.
Technical Interviews
Role-specific questions about your skills. Mentors in your field can simulate technical discussions and help you explain your experience clearly.
Final Round / Panel Interviews
Meeting senior leaders or multiple interviewers. Higher pressure, different dynamics. Mentors can simulate panel conditions and help you manage the room.
What Changes After Mock Interview Practice
Structured Answers
You'll know how to answer any behavioural question using the STAR method. No more rambling or blanking.
Reduced Nervousness
Practice removes the fear of the unknown. You'll have answered these questions before.
Honest Self-Assessment
You'll know your weak spots before an employer finds them. Time to fix them, not explain them.
Higher Offer Rates
Candidates who practise get more offers. It's that simple.
"I had three interviews in Germany and failed all of them. I didn't understand what I was doing wrong. My mentor watched me answer questions and immediately saw the problem: I was giving general answers, not specific examples. After two mock sessions, I understood the STAR method. My fourth interview became my first job offer."

Common Questions
Is mock interview practice really free?
Yes. No cost for Ukrainian participants. Mentors volunteer their time. No hidden fees.
How long is a mock interview session?
30 to 60 minutes. You and your mentor agree on timing when you book.
What should I prepare before the session?
Bring the job description you're targeting (if you have one), your CV, and 2 to 3 examples of achievements you want to discuss.
Can I practise for technical interviews?
Yes. Filter mentors by industry to find someone who can ask role-specific questions.
How many sessions should I book?
Most people book 2 to 3 sessions. One to identify problems, one or two more to practise until confident.
What if I don't have an interview scheduled yet?
You can still practise. The skills transfer to any future interview. Better to prepare now than panic later.
Can mentors help with interviews in languages other than English?
Some mentors speak German, Polish, or other languages. Check mentor profiles for language capabilities.
