TEEI is built by volunteers

Volunteer with TEEI.
Your skills. Your time. Real impact.

Why Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of our programmes.

When you volunteer with TEEI, you put your existing skills to use. Conversation partners help learners practise English. Mentors share professional knowledge. Teachers run structured language sessions. The work is practical, bounded, and genuinely useful.

Our Promise

"Our programmes are structured, supported, and time-bounded. You bring your skills and your consistency. We handle the matching, the coordination, and the context."

Support Ukrainians rebuilding education, careers, and daily life.

Language Connect

Give a displaced professional the confidence to speak up at work.

Many Ukrainian professionals already understand their new language on paper, but freeze in real conversations. One hour of relaxed, regular practice with you can be the difference between staying silent in a meeting and raising a hand.

Mentors for Ukraine

Help a qualified professional land their first role in a new country.

A Ukrainian engineer, teacher, or designer often has years of experience but no local network, no understanding of hiring norms, and no one to ask. Your professional insight can shorten a career gap from years to months.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers to the questions we hear most often.

Getting Started

Do I need teaching or language experience?

No. We match you to a role that fits the skills you already have. Some roles involve conversation practice, others focus on mentoring, admin support, or content work. You will receive a briefing and any materials you need before your first session.

How much time do I need to commit?

Most volunteers contribute one to two hours per week. A few roles, such as event support, are one-off commitments. We will discuss what works for your schedule during onboarding.

Is training provided?

Yes. Every volunteer receives an onboarding briefing, role-specific guidelines, and access to session templates or conversation guides. If your role involves working with learners, we also cover safeguarding basics.

Can I volunteer entirely online?

Yes. All our programmes run online. Sessions take place on Zoom or Google Meet, and coordination happens through email and our scheduling platform, Kintell. You can volunteer from anywhere with a stable internet connection.

Time and Scheduling

What happens if I need to miss a session?

Let your coordinator or learner know as early as you can. We ask for 48 hours' notice where possible so we can reschedule or arrange cover. There is no penalty for the occasional missed session.

Can I change my schedule after starting?

Yes. Sessions are booked through Kintell, and you set your own availability. You can adjust your hours at any time, and your coordinator can help you find a new time slot if needed.

How long is the commitment?

Programme cycles typically run 8 to 12 weeks. You can step back at the end of a cycle, take a break, or continue into the next one. There is no lock-in, and shorter commitments are welcome for certain roles.

The Experience

What does a typical session look like?

It depends on the role. Language partners spend 30 to 60 minutes in guided conversation practice. Mentors work through structured topics such as CV reviews, interview prep, or career planning. You will always have a session guide or template to work from.

Will I be matched with the same learner?

In most programmes, yes. Consistent pairings help build trust and track progress. If either person's availability changes, we will re-match you with someone in a similar time zone and at a compatible level.

What support do I get as a volunteer?

You will have a dedicated volunteer coordinator as your main point of contact. We also provide session materials, a peer community for sharing tips, and check-ins to make sure things are going well.

How will I know I am making a difference?

Learners share feedback after each cycle, and your coordinator will pass relevant comments on to you. You will also see progress first-hand as learners build confidence, improve their language skills, or land interviews.

Corporate and Group Volunteering

Can my company volunteer as a team?

Yes. We run dedicated corporate cohorts where a group from the same company volunteers together. Your team can choose a programme, and we handle onboarding, scheduling, and reporting. Contact us to set up a cohort.

Does TEEI support Volunteer Time Off (VTO)?

Yes. We provide verified volunteer-hour documentation that works with most corporate VTO policies. After each cycle, you receive a certificate with exact hours contributed, which your HR team can use for internal records.

How do volunteer grants work?

Many companies match employee volunteer hours with a financial donation. We integrate with platforms like Benevity and YourCause, and we can provide any documentation your employer needs to process a volunteer grant on your behalf.
