What about Lightning Network donations?

We accept Lightning Network donations for instant, near-zero-fee transactions. Lightning is perfect for smaller donations ($5-$500) where speed matters. For larger donations, we recommend on-chain for the security of multiple confirmations.

Is my Bitcoin donation tax-deductible?

Yes! TEEI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so all donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. You'll receive a tax receipt via email within 24 hours showing the fair market value of your Bitcoin donation. Keep this for your tax records.

Do you accept Bitcoin on other networks (e.g., Wrapped BTC)?

Currently, we only accept native Bitcoin (BTC) on the Bitcoin blockchain and Lightning Network. We do not accept Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) on Ethereum or other chains. If you hold WBTC, you'll need to unwrap it first or consider donating ETH instead.

What happens if I send the wrong amount?

No problem! Any amount of Bitcoin sent to our address will be accepted and you'll receive a tax receipt for the exact amount received. The QR code amounts are suggestions - you can send any amount you wish.
